The site looks different on my computer.
It is a lot bigger (or smaller) than the demonstration I saw. What
can I do?
The site may appear larger or smaller based on your display (monitor)
resolution. Changing the resolution is easy, but will affect how everything
you view appears. A higher resolution will make things appear smaller
on the screen, but there will be more room for images such as multiple
screens open at the same time. A lower resolution will make things
appear larger on the screen, and the resulting image will take up
more space.
On a Windows PC, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display, Settings.
Note the setting in the "Screen Area". Move the slider to the right
or left. Click Apply and OK. You can repeat the process to return
the display to the original settings.
On a Mac, go to the Apple Menu, Control Panels, Monitors. Note the
resolution.
For either the PC or the Mac 800 X 600 is recommended.

I need to find information on a particular
topic. How can I do that?
Clicking on any selection on the menu will either bring you to the
requested page or present a selection of pages related to the topic.
Clicking the selection again will collapse the menu.
If the menu does not get you where you want to go, try the Site Map
found under About This Site.
The Search capability allows you to type a word and returns
every occurrence of that word on the site.
The Resources and Links page lists many web sites that are
recommended to you. Some of these sites also have many links to related
web sites. You will notice that each link outside of our site will
open in a new window. If desired, you may want to maximize the new
window to better view the linked site. Happy browsing!

How can I save this site so that I do not
have to re-type the long site name?
The complete site name, http://ourladyofgoodhelp.org, is called
a URL or Uniform Resource Locator. You will save this URL and then
clicking on the saved entry will get you back without any further
typing. The method for saving the URL is different for each browser.
Using Internet Explorer (IE), select Favorites, Add to Favorites,
then click on the folder where you want to save the site.
Using Netscape, select Bookmark, Add Bookmark.
Using America On Line (AOL), choose the Add to Favorite Places command.

Is the site accessible to those with special
needs?
We have tried to maintain the standards adopted by the World Wide
Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines to provide
for web content accessibility to those with special needs. This should
allow a person to use a screen reader to access the site.
The standards followed include:
- Use of alternative text with each image
- Avoid use of color alone for navigation
- Proper use of style sheets and tables
- Use of standard HTML coding
- Avoid use of time-sensitive content
- Avoid gimmicks and non-standard content and devices
- Provide clear navigation
- Provide documents that are clear and simple
If you have any difficulty with access to any site content please
notify us of the problem. See the Contact Web Team page for
information about sending the Web Site Team an email or call the rectory
at 568-5272 and leave a message about how we can contact you.

I need to find reliable information on the
Catholic faith. Where can I look?
Our Resources and Links
page provides many resources, identifying the type of content associated
with each one. The best way is to go to a likely site and browse.
All sites are indexed and many sites have search capabilities. If
you can't find what you are looking for, send us an email at webteam@ourladyofgoodhelp.org.
Perhaps we can help.

What are the recommended settings for
my computer and browser?
This is not a simple question to answer, because there are many settings
on a computer that control Internet access, screen display and browser
functions. Here are some general guidelines. We are not experts in
every type of computer and browser, so consider this information only
a starting place.
- If your monitor is not at least 15 inches in size, you will
have to scroll horizontally to see each panel
- If your connection speed is not at least 28k bps, some of the
screens will load slowly. We have tried to avoid large graphics,
but even pages with small graphic elements will appear slowly
at speeds under 28k bps.
Windows Computers
- Screen resolution set at 800x600 or larger
- Color set to high color (16 bit)
Mac computers
- Screen resolution set at 800x600
- Color set at Thousands
Internet Explorer (IE) browser
- Use version 4.01 or higher.
- View, Text size set to medium. If you need a larger text size
for visibility, you will have to scroll more.
- View, Encoding set to Western European (ISO). Other settings
may work, but the site was designed based on this standard setting.
Netscape browser
- Use version 4.6 or higher.
- Options, Preferences, Fonts set to medium. If you need a larger
text size for visibility, you will have to scroll more.
America On Line (AOL) browser
- Use version 4.0 or higher.
